Overview

 

Racker is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Day Treatment Counselor (Social Worker) to join our team in providing critical support to students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges. This full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with students in a school environment while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team that include partners within the BOCES program.

 

Position Details:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week), option of 10 or 12 month schedule
  • School Calendar: Enjoy time off during school holidays and breaks
  • Location: TST BOCES, Warren Rd, Ithaca

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide intensive, milieu-based mental health services to students facing social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Offer individual and group counseling to a caseload of 8-10 students, fostering emotional growth and well-being.
  • Engage in weekly individual and group clinical supervision for continuous professional development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and families, ensuring a compassionate and collaborative approach to mental health care.

Qualifications:

  • Licensing criteria: LCSW/LMSW, LMSW eligible, or licensure in LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT.
  • A strong commitment to working with students with mental health needs in a school setting.
  • Empathy and a passion for supporting the emotional well-being of children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

 

  •  Design and implement a comprehensive treatment program for each assigned student that will enhance their social, emotional and behavioral functioning in school, at home and in the community and which reflects the perspectives of the student, family and other involved supports. The program will reflect The Centers’ values as defined in the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles and Code of Conduct.
  •  Provide individual and group therapy to students
  •  Act as a case manager to coordinate treatment goals
  •  Provide crisis intervention support to students in need
  •  Complete assessments that are recommended for improved diagnostic understanding, treatment planning and immediate crisis intervention
  •  Offer and deliver a full continuum of family support and therapy services and keep families fully informed on their child’s progress
  •  Gather and share treatment-related information with team members
  •  Maintain open and direct communication with team members and negotiate and resolve differences
  •  Engage and participate in clinical supervision
  •  Complete all documentation per Office of Mental Health and program guidelines
  •  Uphold standards of professionalism with regard to behavior and dress
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling for School Success or the Executive Director

Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker 
  • Experience with children & adolescents preferred
