Join our team as Teacher Assistant, where you’ll collaborate with a dynamic Early Childhood Special Education team to design and implement play-based instruction for children, fostering growth, learning, and positive self-esteem. This opportunity is within an inclusive special education classroom, ensuring each child gets the attention they deserve. 

 

Position Details:

  • Full-time: 32 hours per week, Monday–Friday, following our daycare calendar.
  • Competitive rate of pay: $18.50 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance that reinforces the instruction of  Special Education Teacher.  Assist in the planning or instructing of activities under the supervions of the instruction. 
  • Provide high quality care and instruction to all students through fun age and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. 
  • Actively participate in team meetings, sharing educational insights and problem-solving collaboratively. 
  • Maintain open communication with families, keeping them informed and supported. 
  • Collaborate with the team to utilize diverse techniques and perspectives in program design. 
  • Keep accurate records of children’s progress and attendance, and prepare reports for parent conferences. 
  • Attend required training sessions, ensuring compliance with OCFS regulations and program requirements. 
  • And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (one of the following):

  • NYS Teaching Assistant Certification  if not you can take 3- months to attain your certification. 
  •  High school diploma or GED.

Physical Capability 

  • Ability to physically assist children to participate in the program; ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds; ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on floor, bending and stooping; ability to move quickly to attend to a running child.
